A mothers family chanted:
We’re sick of tacos, spaghetti, chicken, and Hamburger Helper meals every week. We want something meaty, full of veggies, rice and spices.
Their mom knew she had never made a meal with such ingredients to save her life.
So the first thing she grabbed was a southern cookbook in hopes of a recipe they would like.
What she found to their likings was a Shrimp & Crab Gumbo Delight.
Excitedly and nervously she gathered her ingredients for the night.
While gathering the ingredients something unexpected occurred.
She found she didn’t have everything in which the recipe referred.
Disappointed but determined she made the decision to go forth and use what she had. Unsure of what it would taste like or if her family would be mad.
As the aroma filled the house; noses followed in behind, the gumbo was finally ready and everyone ran to get in line.
Their mom looked nervously on for she knew some of the ingredients were missing.
The first spoonful of gumbo was swallowed, then another and another. The smiles on their faces grew wider as they turned to their mother.
Wow mom this is awesome! How did you get gumbo to taste this great?
“When you told me what you wanted, I looked up a recipe that would match your desired taste. Then I did the best that I could even though I didn’t have everything I should.”
